Tourism and Cultural Economy
The SPEDU region is widely regarded as one of Botswana’s most promising tourism destinations. It is characterised by remarkable natural and cultural assets, including the scenic Tswapong Hills, largely untapped spiritual heritage sites, rich cultural storytelling traditions, and distinctive post-industrial landscapes that present strong opportunities for eco-adventure redevelopment.
SPEDU therefore places particular emphasis on the development of eco-tourism, cultural heritage tourism, religious and event tourism, and adventure-sport tourism, which represent the region’s most promising growth segments and offer significant potential to attract diverse and specialised visitor markets.
