This week, SPEDU in partnership with the Zone 7 Association and the Department of Veterinary Services embarked on a critical tour to Robelela, where Zone 7, Zone 6A and Zimbabwe converge.
The objective was to assess the fence damage that puts the cattle at risk of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). FMD is a highly contagious viral disease causing severe economic losses and impacting livelihoods.
The team showed SPEDU Acting CEO, Mr Othata Batsetswe, Acting Director of Corporate Services, Mr Kitso Mocuminyane and other team members the challenges that are being experienced, demonstrating that the risk of spread is high if cattle cross from the neighboring country at the area where the fence is damaged.
A Mophato (volunteers)team was seen in the area working together to safeguard the cattle and communities.The team called for any donations in any form to curb this challenge.
