Mr. Batsetswe is a seasoned transformational leader with extensive experience in economic and financial development, performance improvement, project management, and strategic business advisory. He has held senior leadership positions across government, the private sector, and international development institutions, demonstrating a strong track record of driving sustainable growth and innovation.
 
Mr. Batsetswe is currently reading for a Doctorate in Business Administration with a focus on “Creating High Performance Value Chain Organisations.” He holds a Master of Finance & Control, a Postgraduate Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management, and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, along with various professional certifications.
 
Under his leadership, SPEDU aims to strengthen its role as a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable development. The organization will focus on fostering strategic partnerships, promoting innovation, and aligning with national development and SPEDU’s priorities. Mr. Batsetswe’s strategic vision will propel SPEDU toward becoming a dynamic institution committed to industrialization, manufacturing, green economy, regional competitiveness, and community empowerment, delivering tangible high impact, scalable and strategic projects.

Technical Advisor to The CEO

Mr. Ronnie Phuthego is a seasoned executive with international experience across Africa, Asia and Europe. He brings a strong track record in strategy development, economic empowerment, innovation and multilateral diplomacy. He has served in senior leadership roles within government, the United Nations and the private sector, driving initiatives that promoted investment, job creation and innovation. Mr. Phuthego holds advanced degrees in Renewable Energy (Germany) and International Cooperation Policy (Japan) and is a Certified Expert in Change Management and Key Performance Indicators. Currently, he represents Botswana on global platforms such as the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Programme and the African Development Bank’s Growth Platform. At SPEDU, he supports the CEO in aligning transformative projects with Botswana’s national priorities focusing on investment promotion, industrialization, digital and green economy strategies and entrepreneurial development.

Director – Strategic Projects (Ag)

Maiba Samunzala is a seasoned expert with over twenty-five (25) years of experience in the field of agriculture and in particular the development and management of large scale irrigation projects. He has been instrumental in the establishment of a regional diversification agency, aimed to revive the socio-economic activities of the SPEDU economically prioritized area. Samunzala was appointed the first manager of the agribusiness sector, responsible for the implementation of targeted policies for the Region. Prior to this, he has served at the Ministry Of Agriculture for nineteen(19) years and has participated in key strategic agribusiness committees, with the mandate to boost economic growth. 

He possesses skills and expertise across the level of the agriculture planning and coordination spectrum, from the community to policy level and has experience in the implementation, monitoring and development of agriculture and food security policies and programmes. He holds the Degrees of Executive MBA in Project Management, Bachelor of Science (Horticulture) and is a certified Project Management Practitioner with Cambridge Management Institute.
