COMMUNITY ECONOMIC FACILITATION

SPEDU mandate further promotes domestic investment and citizen economic empowerment through participation of Communities led by Community Based Organisations (CBOs) in SPEDU Region. 

Communities in SPEDU Region are critical players in the implementation of the regional economic strategy. Community Based Organisations in the Region have in their possession a total of twenty thousand, six hundred and two hectares (20 602ha) for agricultural use. This prompts for investment promotion through these community agricultural clusters to transform them into large commercial enterprises.The SPEDU Strategy for economic development promotes inward investment through attraction of both local and foreign investors. CBO’s have been identified and modelled for inclusion in the economic strategies implemented in the Region.

The facilitation process for CBOs includes establishment, identification and implementation of viable projects, coordination of strategic and technical partnerships, sourcing of funding opportunities, resource mobilization, capacity building and market access. 

Community projects in the SPEDU Region significantly contributes towards employment creation, income generation, community development, national food security, youth and women empowerment.
